Howard Prince
Straight to the Soul  (AC-5002, released 1994)
Virtuoso trombonist Howard Prince has played with Mel Lewis, Frank Foster, Beaver Harris, Dave Brubeck and the NY Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, under the direction of Aaron Copeland, Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta, Sir George Solti. His first date as a leader ranges from hard driving freebop to contemporary jazz, and features Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Jay Leno's drummer, and Will Lee, David Letterman's bassist.

"Prince plays with real character and vivid personality...he has an admirable command not only of his instrument, but also of a range of jazz approaches...an exceptionally fine debut recording." George -Kanzler, Newark Star-Ledger

"An astounding display of technical fireworks...a major new talent."
-Bill Spilka, Brass Player
