Michael Shea Quartet
Last Night While You Slept  (AC-5007, released 1994)
The first album from pianist/composer Shea features French hornist Mark Taylor, known for his work with Henry Threadgill and Muhal Richard Abrams, in a lyrical, swinging, setting. Shea's tunes are warmly emotional; his group plays with power and passion. If you like Joanne Brackeen, Mulgrew Miller, or Keith Jarrett, you'll enjoy this.

"A formidable jazz piano player and writer."

-John Basile, Neon Navigator

"Fine solos throughout...rich interplay."

-Ken Franckling, JazzTimes

"Fully considered, and full of interesting compositional gambits...a strong set of
distinctive music."
